On sabbatical...

Hi everyone. I'm setting up this page to keep everyone posted on my summer journeys throughout Kansas and the United States. My initial plans...

1. Visit all 105 Kansas counties, including all the courthouses.
2. Visit selected historic, geographic, and personal interest sites across the state -- things that demonstrate the unique character and flavor of Kansas.
3. Give a presentation at the NACCC annual meeting on how to start a jail/prison ministry in your church.
4. Attend a Rush concert with a friend in Chicago.
5. Do 2 train trips: one through the Rockies to Salt Lake City, and another to Chicago and St. Louis.
6. Visit a different church each week. Talk to pastors and lay people in each place to gain wisdom and understanding.
7. Spend a week up in Maine - a state I've never been to before.
8. Attend a preaching conference in Dallas with a very talented and young student-preacher in our church.
9. Spend some weekends with my beautiful wife, who will soon be the new Talking Books Librarian/Director for the state of Kansas.

Pilgrimage has been a part of the Judeo-Christian tradition for centuries. In Bible class we have been studying the Psalms of ascent (Pss. 120-134) -- written for such pilgrimages to Jerusalem during holiday seasons. Jesus took such a pilgrimage for Passover, which ultimately led to His crucifixion and resurrection.

I'm taking a pilgrimage of sorts this summer too. I look forward to sharing what the Lord opens up to me as I travel. Thanks for tuning in!
